The flight home was a long and sad journey. There were no problems getting to the plane this time as opposed to last time. My luggage arrived at the airport the day before my flight. Though, as usual, the line for Delta was quite long. They only have 1 flight per day that goes to Atlanta and their ticketing opens at 13:15. I got my ticket in about an hour after they opened. They even gave me the emergancy exit which offers much more leg room.
By 16:40, we were in the air. The meals were not very good this time around. And I did manage to get about 2 or 3 hours of sleep. We landed about 20 minutes ahead of time for a total flight time of 11 hours and 40 minutes. In Atlanta, I tried to go on stand by for an earlier flight, but I had to wait for my normal flight time. While waiting, I nearly fell asleep. We boarded on time despite the many delays. Within 10 minutes of sitting down, I was asleep. I was exhuasted. So, I slepted for about 30 minutes and woke up just before water and peanuts were served. Naturally, after those were dealt out, we went into the landing preparations, then landed soon after. On the ground, I hiked my way through the terminal towards the baggage claim. Not many bags came out on the conveyer belt and an announcement was made. So, I had to see the tickting agent to find out where my bags had gone. Apparently, they were placed on the later flight and said they would deliver them when they would arrive. About 1 a.m. in the morning, someone delivered both bags to the house. I was very surprised they actually delivered them at that hour. I was expecting them to come in the morning around 7 or 8. The journey was long. And it was sad since I was leaving Japan. I will really miss everything there and look forward to when I will be able to return some day.
